The first meeting of the Yorkshire Centre was held on 26th November 2009 with the BBC Look North weather presenter and climate correspondent Paul Hudson as guest speaker. The centre aims to organise about 9 meetings per year between September and June, usually having a break over the summer months.

Popular talks from the last few years include “Volcanic ash over Europe - when volcanology meets meteorology”, “High Altitude ballooning and photography of the upper atmosphere” and “Up Close and Personal - weather from a Gliding Perspective”. Further information on these and all our talks can be found on our website, http://www.see.leeds.ac.uk/research/rmetsoc/.

All meetings are held in the School of Earth and Environment at the University of Leeds starting at 7pm with refreshments from 6.00pm.  They are aimed at a general audience and are free and open to all.

The Yorkshire Centre committee welcomes suggestions for future talks and offers of help from anyone who would like to get more involved in helping to run the centre.
